Lady Gaga Announces “Gaga Radio” On Apple Music
In releasing her sixth studio album, Chromatica back in May of this year, Lady Gaga has just announced the launch of her new radio show, Gaga Radio exclusively on Apple Music. Gaga is devoting the radio show to dance music and exclusive mixes from the DJ’s who influenced the album. Chromatica debuted at number one on Billboard’s 200 becoming the biggest opening week sales for a female artist in 2020, selling 274,000 units in its first week. The singles for the project, Stupid Love and Rain On Me featuring Ariana Grande debuted at number 5, and number one on Billboard’s Hot 100.
In an interview with Zane Lowe, Gaga described the album saying, “I can’t wait to dance with people to this music. I can’t wait to just go into any space with a whole bunch of people, and blast this as loud as possible to show them how much I love them. I hope that they listen to this record, and go on not only my personal journey with me, and dance through all the pain, but also go through their own journey, and dance through all their pain.”
Gaga Radio will feature new guests every week, starting this week with Bloodpop, known for writing songs for Madonna, Britney Spears, Justin Bieber and John Legend, who produced the Chromatica album. DJs will also be providing remixes of different Gaga songs each week. In a statement Gaga released about the show she says, “The last few weeks I’ve been figuring out different ways at home that I can be of service to what I would call the singular global community, one that I believe to be kind in nature, one that I believe to be very special to my heart and I believe to the hearts of many. And so I’ve been thinking of all the ways that I can be someone that contributes to the society and the world. I’m super thrilled, excited to have this show and this opportunity to play an incredible mix of music every week.” The show will air this Friday at 2pm EST on Apple Music.
